Are you an aspiring, emerging or established songwriter? Make your mark! After a highly successful launch in 2016, the Edmonton Filipino Fiesta wants to raise the fun this year with a theme song that reflects the Filipino nature and sense of celebration. And it can be yours! Submissions are now open.

Guidelines:

• Song must be 3 minutes or less.

• Can either be in English or Tagalog, or a combination of both.

• Genre of music is open. Recommended to be in celebration mood, and song and dance feel.

Submission:

• Entries must be submitted as audio and video files via email attachment to philippineartscouncil@gmail.com, along with a lyric sheet.

• Be sure to include the names and contact information of all the performers and/or collaborators.

• The entries will be posted in the websites, YouTube channels and Facebook pages, of both the Philippine Arts Couincil and the Edmonton Filipino Fiesta, for public voting. Videos can be as simple as just having the song lyrics and credits, or you can create your own music video. Be creative to garner more votes!

• Submissions are accepted until a winner is announced on May 15, 2017. The earlier the submission, the more chance of garnering votes.

• All entries must be guaranteed original compositions and composed for this Edmonton Filipino Fiesta theme song competition.

• There will be no limit to the entries an individual can submit.

• The Edmonton Filipino Fiesta and the Philippine Arts Council will not be liable or responsible for any production costs incurred by any artists in their submission.

• The song entry must not infringe the copyright or any other right of any party. The Edmonton Filipino Fiesta and Philippine Arts Council will not be held liable for any copyright infringement.

Selection:

• The winning song will be selected by popular vote (50%) through social media and the Edmonton Filipino Fiesta organizers and panel of experts (50%).

• The winning song will be announced on May 15, 2017.

• The songwriter/s of the winning song will receive $300 and bragging rights.

• The Edmonton Filipino Fiesta reserves the right to use the winning theme song for the promotion of the Fiesta.

• The winning song will be the music bed for all promotional materials of the Fiesta.

• The collaborator/s of the winning song will do a live performance of the song during the Fiesta. When this is not possible, the recording will be played during the Fiesta.
